About the Trip, Some Area Accommodations, and Lake Hartwell
Each trip typically consists of approximately 6 hours, when the limit of fish is caught, or when the sufficient amount of bait to catch the limit is used--whichever comes first.
The limit is 10 striper/hybrids per person, with an average size of hybrid bass being 3 to 9 pounds. The striped bass range from 5 to 25 pounds with bigger fish being caught occasionally. An average catch is 20 to 25 fish, with limits of 30 to 40 fish caught regularly.

It is the first of the Savannah River Lakes, and is located in Pickens, Oconee, and Anderson Counties. Interstate 85 crosses the center of the lake. It is a Corps of Engineer Project, completed in 1963. It is fed by two major rivers--the Seneca and the Tugaloo--which join to make the Savannah. It has approximately 990 miles of shoreline and a surface area of 56,000 acres. It's deepest area is approximately 185 feet deep, near the Hartwell Dam. |
